Esp. the Federal Waterways Engineering and Research Institute, which is the scientific consultant for the complete German Federal Waterways and Shipping Administration is for more than 15 years a customer of the founders of SWIFT Engineering. The company was founded in 2006 as a spin-off of Ingenieurbüro Huber (founded 1988) and Kauppert und Mach Ing.part. (founded 2001). At the moment there is a staff of seven engineers and natural scientists working for SWIFT Engineering.
